Watchlist
I just found this cool new feature on the community I am participating in. It's called a watchlist. You basically can enter al the show's you are following in this list, and you can see when your shows will air again. Also you can connect the watchlist to your facebook so you can see what your friends are watching.
I'm going to check this out :)
- Ok not all my favorite shows are in that list.. I guess the list is only for shows that are currently broadcast. I think that is a bit sad, because then I still have to keep track of when for example Lost is going to start again.. and I thought this watchlist was to help with that.. ok.. maybe not then
- you have to give your timezone, and obviously there are only the 5 American time zones so I just picked one..
- you have to choose your cable provider.. so I just picked one here too
After you did this you get a nice little list with your shows. The first show that is going to air will show a little summary about what is going to happen in this episode.. hmm I do not like spoilers of any kind.. so I hope I can turn that off. I can not.. hmm pity.
A nice feature if anyone would like spoilers, is that you can also watch previews of the show if they're available. Also there is a link to the info page of the show so you can look through the archives and vote for episodes etc.
I like the basic idea of the watchlist, although you can't switch some features off. But I guess most people like to read and watch previews so it's a really nice idea. Also the feature is still in beta, so who knows what will change.
Next time I'm going to look into the info page of the shows..
so see you then!

Registering at tv.com
Anyway, registering at the site must be safe as I expect not to get spoilers from that haha.
As I opened the url, I get a pop-up message to login or to register. It doesn't seem to work, because the link I clicked to register does nothing. Too bad, I'll find a registration button somewhere else then.
Ok.. it seems I've already been registered....with my facebook account. So I guess the two are linked to each other! That is quiet handy. Then you don't have to register at all, and it explains why the pop-up was a dead link.
But let's assume I do not have a linked facebook account. I want to see the registration process.

Ok that is very easy, you immediately see if the chosen username already excists and the given password and e-mail adresse will be checked for errors.
Ok after I register I can connect the account with facebook again.
I looked at the help section for a bit and I found out that there is a level system on this community. When you're a level 1 you can not enter information on the site, at level 2 you can, and so each level will give more rights to do stuff on the site. It is a rewarding system for prominent users on the site.
Ok I'd have to be active then, and that's what's this assignment is all about right. And I'm really competitive so I think it's a cool system. But I can imagine that when you're not competitive this can be a let down.
This is what I found out today, I'll keep you posted, I have to write a blog for the 48 hours project now. (Says the one who hates blogging! lol!!)

You can read the rest it here.
The first glance
So I'm keeping this blog about my experiences on www.tv.com.
I've known this site for a very long time now, it must have been years, but every time I've visited the site I went straight for the search engine and typed in the name of the show to get information about it.
I haven't actually spend time on the homepage, to see what I can do there.
So the first glance: it's actually pretty cool what you can do here!
- There's a list of sneak peek clips you can watch from shows.
- tv listings
- hd video's
- tv news
- top 20 shows
- the search engine
- some ads
- a forum
- a shows button
I'm not registered yet, but I'll do that later on!
I like it that you don't have to be registered to go to the content, you can always go to the info about the shows, but you're not able to participate in the interactive elements. And that is just what I am going to do later on.
See you then!

Oh my, starting a blog again
Hi there,
Let’s introduce myself for a second. I’m Arina and from the Netherlands and I’m studying Communication and Multimedia Design. I have to admit that I suck at keeping a blog. I’ve managed to update a blog while I was in India for my intern-ship, but after a few months I kept blogging less and less, so here’s another try.
I’m starting to blog again because I’m following a course called Community Building. And that is what my blog is about, my experiences as a newbie on a new community.
The community I have chosen to investigate is the one at www.tv.com. I’ve known this site for several years now, when it was only a database for looking up tv show information. A few years ago they did a total makeover for the site and now you can login and discuss all those shows and stuff. I’ve never used those new functions, I was still only interested in the info they have stored.
I’m going to register on the site and keep you updated about my findings about this community.
Don’t be afraid to leave a message!
Thanks!
